Reading Resolutions | Read More in 2025
Even if you love to read, it can get tough to make time for it in your daily routine, and even the most devoted readers sometimes fall into a slump. If you’ve resolved to read more this year, we’ve got advice and tips to help you on your way.
Our best advice:
READ WHAT YOU LOVE! You don't have to read "important" or popular books.
If you don't love what you're reading, move on! It's OK not to finish.
Everything counts - graphic novels, short stories, picture books, poetry, romantasy, true crime, anything you like!
Audiobooks count, too! If you find that when you sit down to read, you end up snoozing after a couple pages, try audiobooks so you can listen while you walk or do chores. If you’re not sure whether you like audiobooks, celebrity memoirs narrated by the author are a nice gateway.
Join an accountability challenge like "Read 25 in 25" with Gretchen Rubin: https://gretchenrubin.com/read25in25/, The 52 Book Club https://www.the52book.club/2025-reading-challenge/ or any of these: https://www.chapteradventure.com/reading-challenges/the-most-popular-2025-reading-challenges-on-storygrpah-so-far/
Make friends with your local bookseller (like Candace at The Book & Nook), who will be MORE than happy to give you recommendations: https://www.thebookandnookwarwick.com/. If you don’t have a local indie bookstore, ask a librarian.
Follow your favorite authors on social media. Not only will you find out first about new work they have coming out, but you’ll also find out what they love to read.
Find a book club! Start with ours! We're meeting on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Silvio's Villa in Warwick to chat live with Brian J. Cano about his book "Grains of Sand: Tales from a Paranormal Life." https://www.valleygirlspodcast.com/ev...
